Louise will be speaking about her new book Where the Earth Meets the Sky : A Story of Penguins, People and Place in Antarctica (published by The Westbourne Press).
Where the Earth Meets the Sky documents Louise’s life and work in Antarctica, including how the planet’s largest iceberg is transforming the lives of Antarctica’s penguins. The book is a powerful meditation on solitude, resilience and renewal – and a vivid testament to how the harshest landscape on Earth profoundly alters those who enter it.
Louise will be in conversation with poet and novelist Katie Hale, whose recent novel The Edge of Solitude imagines life in a near-future Antarctica. The talk will last for an hour, including time to ask questions, followed by and a chance to chat informally. Refreshments will be available in aid of the village hall.
